Carolina Deadline Looming; AMP Race Ditto
Panicking yet? No? Perhaps you're just not paying attention:
CAROLINA ENTRY DEADLINE IN THREE (GOL'-DANG)
WEEKS
Actually, less than three weeks: The
deadline to enter
LeMons South (at swanky
Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw SC) is 17 May.
Like all LeMons races, we collect applications (via the
online registration page) right up to the deadline, then pick the best
of the bunch for the grid after that. And yes, I admit, "best" is an
arguable term here.
To have the same chance of being picked as everyone else, don't miss the 17
May cutoff. After that, the bribery bill simply skyrockets.
AMP RACE IN (SAINTS PRESERVE US) TWO WEEKS
Lungs need some dust? Eyes just dying for vaporized crude oil? Then come see
the '08
LeMons SF season-opener at
Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy CA. We're racing from 11:30am to
6:00pm on Saturday, May 10th, and 9:00am to 4:00pm on Sunday, May 11th.
Awards ceremony at 4:30pm Sunday, and then they call the sheriff. It's all
very orderly.
AMP's grandstand tickets are 5 bucks; pit passes are 30 for the weekend, or
20 per day. Mothers get into the grandstands for free on Mother's Day.
Muthahs, likewise.
LAST-THRASH BASH
Too cheap to spend five bucks? How's free grab you?
The utterly informal Last-Thrash Bash
hits LeMons HQ in Emeryville (5675-C Horton Street, 94608) from 9-5 on
Sunday, May 4th, the last weekend before the AMP season-opener. That means
that rather than working in their own shops and actually accomplishing
something, various teams will be wrenching, prepping, whining, wheedling,
and wasting even more precious time right here in front of our office. If
you ever wanted to see how a Superfund site gets created, here's your big
chance.
MOTORING J-STYLE
David Swig, a longtime team captain at LeMons, has just invited us to stage
our heaps on the lawn of his excellent Japanese-themed concours and car
show,
Motoring J-Style (24 May '08 at the Solano County Fairgrounds, Vallejo
CA). Why David would bring the level of his show down to the level of LeMons,
to say nothing of making Vallejo a Superfund site as well, I couldn't say.
Just come check it out if you want to see the world's first concours of $500
racecars. And likely the world's last.
Adios from the spam factory--JL
