Houston Car Auction Consigns
239 Cars from a Private Collector
Leake Auction Company partners with Coys of
London for the Expanded Auction
TULSA, Okla. (August 4, 2009) —
Leake Auction Company announced the expansion of their Houston auction to a
two-day sale. The expansion was necessary due to a new partnership with Coys of
London. The individual owner of the collection approached Coys for assistance
because the collection consists of many European cars. Coys immediately
contacted Leake Auction Company because of Leake’s auction presence in Texas.
Leake and Coys have formed a joint partnership to conduct the sale of this great
collection.
“Our relationship with Coys
goes back over 25 years, so we were honored and thrilled when Coys approached us
to partner with them,” stated Richard Sevenoaks, president of Leake Auction
Company. They have set the precedent for auctions in Europe with their exclusive
listings of historic and high-end luxury cars. We definitely feel that this is
an opportunity for us to penetrate the European market and reach new buyers. It
will be a great test of our online bidding system too.”
The collection includes a
terrific variety of cars, such as Bentley, Ferrari, Jaguar, Maserati,
Mercedes-Benz, and Rolls-Royce. 200 cars will sell at No Reserve. A small sample
of some of the No Reserve cars that will be auctioned include: a 1984 Aston
Martin Lagonda Sedan, 1952 Bentley MK VI Sedan, 1981 Ferrari 400I Coupe, 1958
Jaguar XK 150 Coupe, 1961 Jaguar Cougar Race Car, 1985 Lamborghini Jalpa P 350
GT,1972 Maserati Indy 4700 Deportivo, 1937 MG TA Roadster, 1958 Porsche 356
Coupe, 1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith Limousine with James Young coachwork, 1963
Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III, and a 1973 Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible.
“This is the most significant
group of European collector cars offered in Texas,” continued Sevenoaks. We are
excited to present this collection in Houston. Due to the size of the Reliant
Center, this is the perfect venue to auction this collection of cars.” Coys’
director Douglas Jamieson says, “For a number of years we have been exploring
the possibility of opening up a US operation to complement our international
operations with Coys Europe and Coys Italia which are fully developed. The
consignment of such a substantial no reserve collection of predominantly
European historic cars gives us great impetus and energy and we look forward to
further sales in the USA alongside our joint venture partners Leake Auction
Company."
The annual Houston Leake
Collector Car Show and Auction will take place September 19-20 in the Reliant
Center. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Doors open at 9am
daily. 500 cars are anticipated.
Leake Auction Company was
established in 1964 as one of the first car auctions in the country. More than
40 years later the auction company has sold more than 31,000 cars. Leake Auction
Company currently operates auctions in Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Houston and
